Hardouin delicatessen in Vouvray is an institution in the region. You will find rillons there just like they used to be made, and all ready to travel in your suitcase. Are you looking for an original gift? Did you know that Gâtinais saffron is harvested in the Centre Region? This precious spice is sold prettily packed, in powder or filament forms, and will add that special something to your cakes and dishes. For a tangier touch, Orléans vinegar has been made in the traditional way since 1797. For those with a sweeter tooth, the Cotignac d'Orléans comes in a small wooden box adorned with the image of Joan of Arc and offers all the fruity flavour of quince paste. In Bourges, Forestines boast attractive pastel colours and a soft centre, while Praslines of Montargis are toasted almonds with Gâtinais honey.

Wickerwork, earthenware, enamels… appreciate the many facets of crafts in the Centre Region

Come and discover the village of Villaines-les-Rochers near Azay-le-Rideau and its 80 families of wickerworkers. Some of them have even set up shop in former cliff dwellings, as they offer ideal moisture levels for preserving the supple qualities of the wicker strands. Let yourself be tempted by their baskets, decorative objects, furnishings and even jewellery. Pottery enthusiasts should stop off in the village of La Borne in the Cher region. Stroll through the streets to see potters, sculptors and ceramists at work. You are certain to fall for one of their stoneware items or colourful ceramics. You can also follow the Porcelain and Table Arts Route in the Berry region, where a number of craftspeople reserve some beautiful surprises for you.
